Two 2-hour sessions

Say good-bye to “second sock syndrome” and learn how to knit socks two-at-a-time in the round, using two circular needles or magic loop.  Students will knit a full sized pair of socks.

In the first session, students will learn the two-at-time technique, options for casting on the toes, setting up the socks, how to work both socks at once, and make toe increases.  Students will knit the foot on their own.  Then in the second session, students will learn how to turn the heel in the two-at-a-time method and options for casting off a stretchy cuff.  Students will finished knitting their leg and casting off on their own.

Cost: $80
Materials:  Buy or bring yarn, in sufficient quantity for knitting two socks, and 40” circular needles (or two 24" needles) to match.

Worsted-weight to DK-weight yarn will be ideal to keep pace with project progress during the class.  Schoppel Wolle Ambiente is a super soft sport-weight yarn that will make wonderful socks and knits up fast, use one ball for each sock.

Fingering-weight yarn is common for socks, but will take more time to knit on your own in the two weeks between classes to get to the heel turn by the second class.

Optional:  Students may want to wind and divide yarn into two balls to keep yarn organized.  You may knit from the inside and outside of a single ball.

Skills:  Participants should be familiar with knitting, purling, working in-the-round, increasing, and decreasing.  Familiarity with sock techniques is recommended, including cast-on and cast-off, toe shaping, and turning a heel, but not required.
