Knitting Class: Better Fitting Sweaters
|Availability:||In stock (8)|
Two 90-min Sessions
Saturdays March 14th & 28th at 11am
Have you spent (or are you afraid of spending) money on good quality yarn and many hours of knitting, only to discover you end up something too boxy or too tight or simply unflattering? This class will help you avoid that.
In the first session we will cover choosing the right pattern, the right size, and the right yarn to match your expectations. We will go over which body measurements are needed and help you take them plus how to “read” pattern schematics so that you get what you want. Also covered are gauge swatches, measuring as you go, knit in tricks for better finishing, and more.
We will also go over adjustments to make in progress like bust darts, waistline decreases, and when to either lengthen or shorten.
For the first class, please bring a sweater or shirt that fits you the way you want (it doesn't have to be knit, any type of top will be fine). Please don’t wear it, because we will need to measure it. Also, it would be helpful to bring a sweater pattern or list of patterns that are in your to-do queue.
We have scheduled a time gap between the first and the last class with the expectation that you will get started on a sweater after the first class and be ready for some evaluation on how it is going at the next class.
