Learn to invisibly manage long floats in colorwork knitting using interlocking ladder stitches on the back side of the work.

Ladderback Jacquard is a technique used in stranded colorwork with long floats. Usually when there is a float of more than 3-5 stitches, the color not being knit needs to be caught by extra over and under motions on the needles or by a tapestry needle when the knitting is complete. This prevents a long, loose thread on the inside of a garment that can get caught on fingers or toes. Ladderback jacquard is a more efficient way of preventing long floats on the wrong side of the work and can be added when added a colorwork chart has long stretches of one color and ended when color changes occur more often and it is not needed. This class will cover how and when to use it with hands on examples. Also covered will be the shortcut to circular gauge swatches.

Materials needed: two colors of the same weight yarn – sport, DK, or worsted and circular needless of the appropriate size for the yarn
