Dye your own custom yarn with Tara in the Stranded Studio.  Tara will guide you through the steps of making your own custom hand-painted skein of yarn using professional quality weak-acid dyes.

This workshop will provide instruction, supplies, equipment, and creative time for hand-painting skeins of natural merino wool fiber yarn.  Students will be encouraged to experiment with different color patterns for each skein of yarn.

This is an introductory level workshop to experience playing with yarn dyes.
No prior skills required.

Use of the Studio and all other needed equipment and materials are provided, including:
2 skeins of superwash merino wool yarn scoured and soaked
(choose between worsted or fingering weight yarn)

Students will be working with professional quality Sabraset Acid Dye in a rainbow of colors.  Sabraset Acid Dyes are designed to permanently dye protein (wool, silk) fibers at a mildly acidic pH, using simple vinegar or citric acid.  Dyes will be pre-mixed in solution to make applying and mixing color easy.

Safety equipment provided includes nitrile gloves, safety glasses, and aprons.
Please wear clothes that are OK to get messy or stained! 

The instructor will heat set and wash your skeins for pick up later in the day or after class.
