A Temperature Blanket is a fun year-long project for beginners and experienced knitters & crocheters.

It is adaptable to many different stitch patterns.  Simply knit two rows in your favorite stitch.  Knit a square or hexagon each day and seam them together.  Crochet a row in your favorite crochet stitch.  Simple & easy stitching every day.

Work a row or two a day in the temperature of the day for the current year.  Checking the temperature each day and seeing the progress of the changes over the year can provide surprising and interesting results.

NOAA and the National Weather Service provide access to historical temperature data for local weather stations.  You can easily look up temperatures for a significant event in a specific city, like a birthday or anniversary, to create a meaningful blanket.  Make someone special a unique and personal blanket that reflects the temperature changes for the year in the city where they were born or graduated.
