Class: Holiday Stockings
4.5-hour Class split over 3 Sessions: 90 Min every-other week for 3 classes
Instructor: Bethany Harper
My name is Bethany and I have been working in fiber arts for most of my life! One of my favorite things is to knit stockings for the Holidays. If you have never knit a sock or stocking this is a great class to start with. There are three basic patterns to choose from and if you are at all intimidated by the idea of knitting a sock you will learn most of the basics in this class but on worsted weight yarn instead of fine yarn on tiny needles!
IN PERSON 4.5-hour class spread over three 90-min sessions, every-other-week

Pattern: Simple Holiday Stocking by Carissa Browning
This is a Free Ravelry Download!
If you use Ravelry then please add the pattern to your library.
Materials:
Yarn: 180-230yds of Worsted or Aran weight yarn in two colors per stocking
For the shop samples at Stranded by the Sea I used about 50-60 grams of Cascade 220 Wool per Stocking. Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok would be wonderful too. The pattern calls for Aran weight yarn but I like the size and feel of worsted weight.
Needles: US 8 in 16” circular and either DPNs or 32” circular for magic loop at the toe
Cable Needle for Cabled Stocking
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Homework:
Please cast on 3 stitches and knit 100 rounds of iCord before the first class.
Each stocking begins with an i-cord that forms the top edge and the hanging loop. Stitches are then picked up along the i-cord and worked downward to create the stocking. A short-row heel and a star toe give the finished product a simple look that won’t distract from your chosen stitch pattern.
