Rigid Heddle Weaving from Start to Finish

7-hour Class split over 2 weeks

Two Session Options:
Monday July 22nd & July 29th
or
Saturday Aug 10th & Aug 17th

Rigid Heddle Weaving from Start to Finish is designed for complete beginners who want to learn the all the basics of weaving on this user-friendly loom. The class will cover the entire weaving process from selecting yarn and reeds sizes, warping the loom, threading the reed, learning tips for good tension, weaving different patterns, and finishing. Students will warp their loom and weave a sampler piece by the end of the second session, which may be made into mug rug style coasters. The class is divided into two sessions, a week apart, to allow time for working at home in between sessions.

Intro to Weaving on a 4-Harness Loom
3-Hours/week for 4 weeks

Session Options:
Fridays starting Aug 9th at 10am
or
Sept - coming soon - dates to be confirmed

Lois will guide students through all the steps of multi-shaft weaving, including winding a wrap, warping the loom, weaving a variety of fabric structures, finishing techniques, and tips for planning your next project.

Next Steps in Rigid Heddle Weaving


4-hour Class plus a 30-min break

Thursday Aug 29th starting at 11am

Next Steps will begin with project planning considerations, weaving tips, and yarn choices and calculating sett, quantities, colors etc. Next, student will use their chosen yarns to warp and setup their project, warp their loom and start weaving, and cover what they they need to know to work on and finish the project on their own. Great if you need a short refresher, have questions, or want a little guidance starting your next project.

Registration Fee:  $100/student
Prior experience with rigid heddle weaving and direct warping required.

Intro to Tablet Card Weaving

6-hour Class plus break for lunch

Thursday Aug 15th at 10am

Intro to Table Card Weaving Class is designed for complete beginners who want to learn the basics of using weaving cards. Tablet weaving uses special weaving cards to create sturdy woven bands. Weaving cards are a simple and portable weaving tool that can create designs that are beautiful and complex. You may use the cards on their own with a belt for backstrap style weaving or with an inkle loom.

Registration Fee:  $150/student
Required Skills:  NONE, perfect for a beginner
