We are delighted to announce In-Person Weaving Classes in our new Stranded Studio and Classroom Space!  We are also expanding our selection of looms and weaving yarns and supplies, including Ashford, Louët, and Schacht, and yarn on cones coming soon from Maurice Brassard, Jagger Spun, and more!  Come check out what is new in the shop (online coming soon).

 

Class - Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving
IN PERSON  5-hour Class over two weeks
Saturday, July 22nd and 29th at 2pm
or
Wednesday, Sept 6th and 13th at 10am

Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving is designed for complete beginners who want to learn the basics of weaving on this user-friendly loom.  The class will cover the entire weaving process from warping to finishing.  Students will warp their loom and weave a several sampler pieces with many different motifs by the end of class.  The class is divided into two sessions, a week apart, to allow time for working at home in between sessions.
 
Registration Fee:  $125/student
Materials and equipment are NOT included in the registration fee.
Yarns Kits and Loom Rentals are available.

Class - Intro to Weaving on a 4-Harness Loom
IN PERSON  12-hour Class over four weeks
Wednesdays starting Aug 2nd at 2pm
or
Saturdays starting Sept 23rd at 10am

In this four week introductory class, students will delve into multi-shaft (multi-harness) weaving.  Lois will guide students through all the steps of warping the loom, weaving a variety of fabric structures, and then cover finishing techniques and tips for planning your next project.  The class is divided into four 3-hour weekly sessions.

Registration Fee:  $300/student

Class - Intro to Tablet Card Weaving
IN PERSON
6-hour Class plus break for lunch

Saturday Aug 26th at 10am

Intro to Table Card Weaving Class is designed for complete beginners who want to learn the basics of using weaving cards.  Tablet weaving uses special weaving cards to create sturdy woven bands.  You may use the cards on their own or with a loom.  Cards are a simple and portable weaving tool that can create designs that are beautiful and complex.

Registration Fee:  $150/student
Materials and equipment are NOT included in the registration fee.
Yarns Kits, Cards, Belt Shuttles, and tools are available.

Class - Intro to Inkle Loom Weaving
IN PERSON   4-hour Class

Thursday, Sept 21st at 10am

Inkle looms are small looms used to create belts, straps, or trim that may be from 1/4” to 3” wide.  These looms are very portable and can be used in your lap or sitting at a table.

This beginner class will teach you the basics of band weaving on an Inkle Loom.  Learn how to make heddles, warp the inkle loom, and create the design along the band.  Bands can be used as is for a hat band or bookmark or to enhance textile goods, like bag straps, hang loops, or apron ties.  The possibilities are endless.

Registration Fee:  $100/student
